The the editor and publisher of the 22CarryOnLuggage.com website, Robert Scheer, is a travel writer whose articles have been published in countless newspapers and magazines in Canada and the United States. He is a former president and a lifetime member of the British Columbia Association of Travel Writers and a past president of the B.C. chapter of the Travel Media Association of Canada.
As a travel writer, Robert depends on a good carry-on suitcase that meets the hand baggage rules for all of the world’s major airlines. He needs to have the largest size bag he can take on board without having to pay an oversize penalty.
Here is what Robert had to say about the importance of a good 22-inch carry on bag…
I was once on assignment to write about hunting tigers in India. Not to worry, I was hunting them with a camera, not a gun.
I would fly from Vancouver to London to Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), from where I would travel by boat through the Sunderlands to the Manas tiger research project.
But my plane arrived late in London, and I missed my Kolkata connection. I had to take the next flight from Heathrow to Delhi, and then another flight into Kolkata. Well, I arrived but my checked luggage didn’t. British Airways lost my big suitcase. I had to spend three full days in Assam living out of my carry-on bag.
And in the humid heat of southeast India, your clothes get very sweaty.
I’m glad I packed as much as I could into the biggest carry-on luggage available.
